Angelina Jolie Establishes Girls Only School in Kabul: "First of Many"

Actress, UNHCR Goodwill Ambassador, mom of six, and partner of Brad Pitt has opened up an all girls school in Kabul, Afghanistan. Jolie has confirmed proceeds from her personally designed House of Jolie jewelry collection will finance the school through The Education Partnership for Children of Conflict. Jolie offered via an exclusive interview with E! News that the Kabul school will be "the first of many" and already has a growing enrollment of 200-300 students. Of the project, Jolie offered: “Beyond enjoying the artistic satisfaction of designing these jewels, we are inspired by knowing our work is also serving the mutual goal of providing for children in need.”

With population of refugees familiar with regional fighting under the Taliban regime, the once devastated area of Kabul is now slowly and steadily gaining attention. As home to families, giving back to its children regardless of gender within area notoriously known for advancing boys’ education rather than girls is one of many signs of progress.

Designs by The House of Jolie collection will be available for purchase when they are officially on sale this week after years of collaborations between Jolie and jewelry designer Robert Procop. Of the collection, Procop stated: “We launched this collaboration collection with the intent that 100 percent of the profits go to charity. The intention was to create something beautiful but more importantly to provide children an opportunity to have an education.”
